About me

I'm Hemko Bruinsel, a Dutchman with a new home on the Atlantic coast of the Vendée. It was here, among the salt marshes, polders and mudflats around Bouin, Beauvoir-sur-Mer and Noirmoutier, that I discovered how many birds there are to see.

It began with a Panasonic FZ82 bridge camera with a big zoom. Today I shoot with a Nikon Coolpix P1000, which lets me capture birds from afar without disturbing them. I also travel further and further, for example to the Loire, where I photographed the kingfisher.

Getting up early, waiting for the right light and watching for hours are part of it. All photos on this site are my own.
