Little Owl
Chevêche d'Athéna · Steenuil
The little owl is a small, stocky owl with piercing yellow eyes, often seen perched on a post or low wall during the day. It lives in open farmland, orchards and around farm buildings, where it hunts insects and small rodents. Its low, undulating flight is distinctive. Active by day as well as at night, it is one of the easiest owls to spot — if you know where to look.
